Health Tech Alley Pathway: Analytics & Data Science

The Health Tech Alley’s Youth Apprenticeship initiative in Maryland is a twelve-month program launched in 2024 after HTA was approached by employers interested in data science. Health Tech Alley formed a sector partnership to develop the program and secured support funding. HTA’s learning program meets Registered Apprenticeship standards defined by the State of Maryland.

We offer two experiential pathways tied to consulting services. One focused on Business Analysis and another on Data Science.

The HTA youth program supports the goals outlined in The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, with Howard County Public School System as a partner on this program. We enjoy support from a variety of other organizations including the Maryland State Department of Education, Maryland Department of Labor, Howard County Office of Workforce Development, Howard County Economic Development Authority, Maryland Technology Internship Program and the Institute for American Apprenticeships. This program was fostered by the work of the Maryland Apprenticeship Connector (MAC).

Youth Apprenticeship in the State of Maryland

HTA stands with apprenticeship programming stakeholders everywhere and champions career path options for all. The 2023-2024 school year was another year of continued growth for Youth Apprenticeships and the State of Maryland again passed milestones in
apprentice and employer participation.

  • Over 1,000 Youth Apprentices active
  • More than 300 employers approved
  • Active apprentices in 23 of 24 MD counties
  • Apprentice gender participation was nearly on par with Maryland’s workforce:
    • 53% Male
    • 47% Female
